Formed in Newcastle upon Tyne in early 2014, El Cid are Michael, Rupert, Phoebe and Jonny. As a four piece, their influences are wide ranging. From Jazz, soul and bluegrass to early psychedelia, surf, garage and folk rock, El Cid express an unusual collective sound. They seem to be a montage of Buffalo Springfield, Big Star & 13th Floor Elevators with a distinctive Morricone-esque feel to their music. Not copyist, they just instinctively gravitate towards that great never-ending sound and spirit.

Their songs have incredible energy, permeating riffs and vibrant melodies; all stitched together with powerful rhythm that is guaranteed to keep you hooked. Check out El Cid's first offering of songs on their bandcamp, in particular the cult piece that is 'Lunar Wave'. Recorded fearlessly using early 60s LCR mixing techniques, this little beauty has already zipped out on the radio in timeless, stripped back psychedelic clarity.
